HIRTA Helps is opening our website to those who are interested in recruiting volunteers in Madison and Marion county. You can now post your volunteer opportunities on the website, as long as they meet our requirements. Let's make it easier for people to find volunteer opportunities within the community! We hope by opening our website to agencies, we will be able to further promote volunteerism within the community.
Agencies can use our platform to find volunteers as well as manage their events and opportunities. Agencies can have volunteers sign up for specific shifts or opportunities in general. Agencies can also collect hours through the HIRTA Helps platform.
In order to reach a wider audience, volunteer opportunities posted on HIRTA Helps are cross posted to Volunteer Iowa's volunteer portal.
Registering agencies agree:
1. To provide volunteer opportunities which DO NOT discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, marital status, age, national origin, political belief, or physical or mental disability;
2. All volunteer opportunities must fulfill a charitable mission;
3. All volunteer opportunities must be located in Madison or Marion County, Iowa.
4. Any volunteer opportunities with a primary purpose of facilitating the advancement of any political party or candidate, religion, or for-profit business shall not be allowed;
5. Any volunteer opportunities which violates the HIRTA Helps special limitations policy shall not be allowed;

Become a HIRTA Helps partner agency!
Additionally, HIRTA Helps is looking for new partner agencies! Through our AmeriCorps Seniors funding, we are able to partner with agencies within Madison and Marion counties. We seek to increase volunteerism among older adults (55+) within the community through these partnerships. HIRTA Helps welcomes conversations with local organizations that are interested in becoming AmeriCorps Seniors volunteer stations (aka partner agencies).
Partner agencies can be public agencies, private non-profit organizations or proprietary health-care agencies that accept the responsibility for assignments and supervision of AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers. Partner Agencies provide orientation, training, in-service instruction, and other education as needed. Partner Agencies agree to abide by all current federal non-discriminatory regulations and be handicap accessible, or provide reasonable accommodations for volunteers.
What do partner agencies receive from this partnership?
- As a HIRTA Helps partner agency, HIRTA Helps assists with volunteer recruitment.
- HIRTA Helps volunteers must clear a background check through us, unless otherwise discussed with the partner agency.
- Volunteers can receive our benefits while volunteering at a partner agency, such as mileage reimbursement and supplemental and liability insurance.
What does HIRTA Helps get out of this partnership?
- Partner agencies report hours of their AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers to HIRTA Helps, which HIRTA Helps uses in grant reporting
- Partner agencies will complete an annual survey to show the volunteer impact, which HIRTA Helps uses in grant reporting
- By having partner agencies, HIRTA Helps can help reduce barriers older adults may have to volunteer at the agencies they want to volunteer.
