HIRTA Helps began in 2021 as an effort to reduce numerous transportation barriers to care. Transportation barriers being addressed included, but is not limited to, cost of fare, medical procedure requirements, and transportation availability. HIRTA Helps operates in Boone, Dallas, Madison, Marion, and Warren counties. Community members within Boone, Dallas, Madison, Marion, and Warren counties are able to access their essential medical care now. Within Madison and Marion county, HIRTA Helps is the proud grant receipent of the AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP grant. With this grant, HIRTA Helps is able to make an even larger impact in the community. Volunteers with the RSVP are able to connect with other volunteer organizations and assist with their missions. Volunteers with RSVP are also able to join HIRTA Helps' Friendly Neighbor Program and Food Support Program. HIRTA Helps has partnered with Boone County RSVP to assist Boone county residents with accessing medical care. |

| RSVP is an AmeriCorps Seniors program and is one of the largest volunteer networks in the nation for people 55 and older. AmeriCorps, the federal agency for national service and volunteerism, provides opportunities for Americans to serve their country domestically, address the nation's most pressing challenges, improve lives and communities, and strengthen civic engagement. Each year, the agency places more than 200,000 AmeriCorps members and AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers in intensive service roles; and empowers millions more to serve as long-term, short-term, or one-time volunteers. It is an exciting time for HIRTA Helps as we continue to grow; we strive to remain as adaptable, motivated, and responsive to our volunteers as we are to our community members and communities. We pride ourselves on being community-focused, a leader in rural volunteering and open to new and innovative ideas.
We welcome ideas, suggestions and open communication from each of our volunteers, as that is part of what makes us a strong team.
