Would you like to help HIRTA collect information? Provide office type assistance? Become a HIRTA Helper! 

 

We are now recruiting volunteers in Boone, Dallas, Jasper, Madison, Marion, Story, and Warren counties to help collect survey responses and success stories. This information helps HIRTA educate the public and funders on the benefits of public transit. We also are looking for volunteers who would like to help with some office assistance, such as helping with mailing educational material to the community. 

To become survey and success story collector HIRTA helper, we will work with your schedule to find a time you can ride the HIRTA bus and record riders' responses to questions while they ride. 

Surveys are distributed in early April for end of the grant year reporting. Success stories are welcome yearround.

We are seeking volunteers to provide transportation to community members who need help gaining access to medical appointments and the pharmacy. Volunteers use their personal vehicles.

Trips are based on your availability and comfort level. If you are only available certain days of the week or have a changing schedule, we will work with your schedule. Do you only want to provide transportation in your town? We have community members who could use your help! Are you willing to drive to Des Moines? We have community members who could use your help! Our biggest request from community members for volunteer drivers is trips from Indianola to the Des Moines metro for medical appointments.
